Loulaba is a peer-to-peer rental marketplace designed to help people rent and lend everyday items within their communities. The platform aims to reduce unnecessary purchases, promote sustainable consumption, and foster an economic and environmentally friendly sharing culture.
To bring this vision to life, Loulaba needed a robust, user-friendly, and visually appealing website that would allow users to list, browse, and rent items effortlessly.

Real-time Availability Without Overcomplication
We needed to ensure item availability updates in real time while keeping the interface clean and user-friendly. Wix Velo helped us achieve this by integrating custom backend logic and leveraging Firebase Realtime Database for instant data synchronization.
Balancing Lender Control and User Convenience
Instead of instant bookings, Loulaba wanted a request-based booking model where lenders could approve or decline rental requests. We implemented this using Wix Velo’s custom request management system, ensuring smooth interactions between renters and lenders.
Scalable and Secure Transactions
The platform required a trusted payment gateway capable of handling security deposits, rental fees, and refunds while complying with financial regulations. Wix Velo allowed us to integrate Stripe Connect securely and efficiently, ensuring smooth payment processing.

Photos (multi-image upload)
Descriptions (item condition, usage instructions)
Pricing & Deposit Requirements
Availability (without public calendars)
Smart Availability Management: Instead of a traditional calendar, we designed a request-based booking system where availability is managed through booking requests (approved by lenders).

Search Filters for Convenience: Users can refine searches based on:
Categories (Tools, Sports Equipment, Electronics, etc.)
Location (via Zip Code without revealing exact addresses)
Price Range & Availability
Map Integration: Users can view nearby listings on a map (without exposing exact locations), ensuring privacy while making search results location-relevant.
5. Secure Booking & Transactions – Ensuring Trust & Safety
Booking Request System:
Renters request to book an item
The lender receives the request and can approve or decline
Once approved, payment is processed, and the rental is confirmed
Real-Time Booking Updates: Built with Firebase, ensuring instant updates when a rental request is accepted or declined.
Stripe Connect Integration:
Secure payments for rental fees and deposits
Funds held until transaction completion to protect both parties
