In our Wix store, we’ve implemented a custom checkout process to enhance flexibility and control over the user experience. When customers fill their cart and proceed to payment, they are redirected to a custom checkout page that mirrors the design and functionality of the standard Wix checkout. This page displays the same essential elements, including the list of items in the cart, the total amount due, and a form for order details.
Upon submitting an order through this custom checkout, a new order is automatically created in the Wix dashboard, and an email confirmation is sent to the buyer, just as it would be with the standard Wix checkout.
The primary reason for developing this custom checkout is that the default Wix checkout has limitations, particularly the inability to remove the payment step. By creating a custom solution, we have the freedom to design the checkout process in any way we choose, without being restricted by the default template. This means we can fully customize the checkout to match our brand’s unique style, incorporate additional features, and optimize the user experience to better meet our customers’ needs. Thanks to this method, any design is possible, allowing us to create a truly tailored and engaging checkout experience.
